Wait, how long will I wait?
Darling you've been lingering around my mind.
Flickering, like a fire in the night.
I've lost the crumbs that I left behind.
Inevitable, the road that has no end.
I'll walk along til I catch up to you.
The closer I get, the further you are.
Is this all I can ever do?
Leaves cackling beneath me,
dried up and forever broken.
Dew trickling down,
while some remain frozen.
The night has swallowed me whole,
no longer am I en-route.
The road I was on has
transformed into grass and overgrown roots.
The only light making its way onto me,
are the glistening diamonds in the pitch dark sky.
With the accompaniment of a glowing ball,
like the all seeing eye.
The more steps I take, the deeper I go.
Slowly forgetting why I carried on.
Was I looking for you?
Or the shadow of mine that has already been long gone?
I've found shelter, I'll stay for the night.
Slowly resting my head upon a rock smothered by moss.
Here I have found myself again, waiting.
All I've ever known is lost.
